Rahul Gandhi in Gujarat addresses orientation program for district observers; To kicks off ‘Sangathan Sirjan Abhiyan’
April 15, 2025
Ahmedabad: Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi began his two-day Gujarat visit from the city. The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Gandhi addressed the orientation program for District Observers who will be a crucial part of the party’s Sangathan Sirjan Abhiyan in Gujarat.
Gandhi’s two-day Gujarat tour marks the launch of a broader organizational revamp aligned with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s call to make 2025 the “year of structural reforms.” The campaign focuses on overhauling the party’s district units, strengthening District Congress Committees (DCCs), and ensuring greater accountability.
This initiative follows last week’s significant closed-door meeting between the Congress Working Committee and the All India Congress Committee in Ahmedabad, where Kharge’s reform vision was endorsed, and Gandhi was positioned to lead the change.
As part of this drive, a five-member observer panel—comprising four Gujarat leaders and one central representative—has been deployed to conduct in-depth district-level reviews within 10 days. Senior leaders, including MPs, ex-MPs, MLAs, and former legislators, are also part of the mission, underlining the party’s serious intent.
Former district and municipal party heads, panchayat leaders, and representatives from SC, ST, OBC, and minority departments have joined the observer pool, ensuring a multi-tiered inspection of the party’s grassroots setup.
“Rahul Gandhi will be in Gujarat today and tomorrow to formally launch this initiative,” Congress General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal wrote on X. “He will launch the INC’s Sangathan Sirjan Abhiyan from Modasa in Aravalli. The key goal is to empower District Congress Committees and establish stronger accountability mechanisms,” he added. DeshGujarat
