Portable ladders introduced at Udhna railway station to access rail coaches
April 23, 2025
Surat: Platform no. 6 at Udhna railway station has been causing inconvenience to passengers due to its height being lower than the trains that arrive at the platform. Addressing this issue, a social organization named Anuprayas Solution has stepped in to provide portable ladders (dadar) free of cost, allowing passengers to board trains more easily. Volunteers from the NGO will place the ladders when a train arrives and remove it once the train departs, ensuring passenger safety and convenience in boarding/deboarding the trains.
The agency has also taken full responsibility for the ladder’s maintenance until the railway authorities raise the platform’s height. Platform number six, from where unreserved trains like the Udhna–Jaynagar operate, will soon undergo redevelopment. As reported earlier, the railways have decided to increase the platform’s height and width, with the width set to expand from 7 to 12 meters and height adjusted according to the level of the trains. This work is likely to begin in two months, and until it is completed, the NGO’s initiative will serve as a much-needed relief for daily commuters. DeshGujarat
