Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara to host IPL-style domestic T20 league
April 28, 2025
Vadodara: This year, Barodians are in for an exciting T20 cricket experience, as the city prepares to host its inaugural domestic T20 league, modeled after the Indian Premier League (IPL), at the Kotambi International Cricket Stadium. The Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) has unveiled the Baroda Premier League (BPL), which aims to provide a platform for emerging cricket talent to showcase their abilities.
Pranav Amin, president of the BCA, shared, “The BPL will be an exciting tournament. We have secured investors for the teams, and the schedule is finalized.” The BPL is set to begin on June 15, following the conclusion of the IPL in May, with the finals scheduled for June 29. Five teams will compete in 24 matches in this day-and-night event, which has received approval from the BCCI. The five franchises — Ami Life Science, Vishv Enterprise, Nirayu, Darshanam, and Awesome Four — have purchased the teams.
Unlike the IPL, team owners will not select players themselves. Instead, the BCA will allocate players to ensure a fair distribution of talent among the teams. All players registered with the BCA, ranging from Under-19 to senior levels, will be eligible to participate, ensuring a mix of experienced and emerging players in each team.
A private firm has been appointed to manage and promote the 15-day tournament, which is expected to be live-streamed on OTT platforms and broadcast on television. DeshGujarat
