Sabarkantha: Prantij police have booked three maulvis of the Jamia Darul Ahsan Waqf madrassa for allegedly assaulting students and confining them within the premises.
An FIR against the accused — Mufti Yunus, Mohammed Anas Meman, and Mohammed Fahad — was filed following a complaint by a 16-year-old boy from Bihar, who, along with his younger brother and 32 other children, was brought to the madrassa on April 13 after being recruited from their village by one of the accused.
The student alleged that the teachers regularly beat the children with sticks, wires, or other objects for minor issues such as not waking up on time or talking during breaks. The madrassa gates were kept locked, preventing the children from leaving. The situation escalated when eight students fled the premises early Monday morning and attempted to travel to Udaipur. They were intercepted by the accused at Himmatnagar railway station, where police intervened following the children’s cries for help. One student, suffering from stomach pain, was hospitalized. It was also reported that some children had swelling and injuries on their private parts.
Police have booked the three teachers under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for causing hurt, wrongful confinement, and abetment. DeshGujarat
