Gujarat govt launches one-time waiver scheme for scrapping vehicles older than 8 years

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government today implemented a ‘One-Time Waiver’ scheme for vehicles being scrapped at government-approved Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) centres. Under this scheme, from May 1, 2025, to April 30, 2026, outstanding tax, penalty, interest, and all dues on vehicles older than 8 years, including trucks, buses, maxi cabs, and construction equipment, will be waived if these vehicles are scrapped at the government-approved RVSF centres.
The main objective of the scheme is to prevent environmental damage caused by vehicle pollution and encourage people to purchase more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles. Vehicle owners can avail themselves of this scheme by scrapping their old vehicles at the government-approved RVSF centres and clearing their outstanding dues, as per the notice issued by the Office of the Transport Commissioner, Gandhinagar.
