Barodians can get tree saplings at their doorstep through VMC website

Vadodara: With World Environment Day coming on June 5, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has launched a green initiative, “Ek Ped Ma Ke Naam” (One Tree in Mother’s Name). The online registration module for this campaign was officially launched on Tuesday, enabling citizens interested in tree plantation to submit their applications via the VMC website and have saplings delivered to their doorstep.

Details and registration are available on the official website: https://vmc.gov.in/.

VMC has announced an ambitious plan to plant 2 lakh trees every month, in collaboration with educational institutions, social and religious organizations, commercial establishments, environmental enthusiasts, and residents.

The primary goal of this campaign is to transform Vadodara into a “Green City.” Through the online portal, individuals, schools, housing societies, and public places can request tree saplings, encouraging mass participation in the city’s greening mission.

Currently, about 17% of Vadodara’s land area is covered with trees. VMC aims to raise this to 30% through continuous plantation drives under this campaign.

A key meeting regarding the initiative was held yesterday at the VMC office. It was attended by Mayor Pinkyben Soni, Standing Committee Chairman Dr. Sheetal Mistry, Municipal Commissioner Arun Mahesh Babu, Opposition Leader Manoj Patel, Deputy Commissioner Gangasindh, V.M. Rajput, and representatives from various institutions and NGOs. This citizen-driven initiative reflects Vadodara’s commitment to a greener and more sustainable future. DeshGujarat
