Ahmedabad: Air India Flight AI171, en route from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, crashed in the Meghaninagar area just minutes after departing from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. Preliminary reports indicate that the aircraft involved was a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, carrying around 242 passengers and crew.

Eyewitnesses from nearby areas said thick plumes of smoke and flames were seen rising from the crash site, near the airport’s boundary. The incident caused panic in neighbouring localities like Vastrapur, where residents reported hearing a loud noise and witnessing the aftermath.
