600 schools in Rajkot to remain shut on June 14 to mourn Ahmedabad Plane crash victims

Rajkot: More than 200 people lost their lives in the crash of Air India flight AI-171 en route to London from Ahmedabad, in which former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani also passed away. To pay tribute to the souls lost in this tragic incident, around 600 schools in the city will remain closed on June 14.
As per the decision taken by the Rajkot Self-Financed School Management Association, educational activities will remain suspended tomorrow, June 14, 2025, in approximately 600 self-financed schools across Rajkot city. Additionally, the board has appealed to government and aided schools to observe the same in solidarity, allowing students and teachers to collectively pay tribute to the victims of this disaster.
Vijaybhai Rupani, a native of Rajkot, had made significant contributions to the development of Rajkot and Saurashtra during his tenure as Chief Minister. His death has cast a shadow of mourning over the city. The decision of the Self-Financed School Management Board has been welcomed by the citizens of Rajkot, and tribute meetings are being organized across the city.
Meanwhile, Gujarat ATS and FSL teams are continuing their investigation at the crash site in Ahmedabad, and NDRF personnel remain engaged in relief and rescue operations. The tragedy has sent shockwaves across Gujarat, including Rajkot. DeshGujarat
