AMC announces free BRTS travel for seniors above 65, specially abled
July 04, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has extended free BRTS bus travel to all senior citizens aged 65 and above, as well as specially abled individuals. Earlier, only people above 75 years of age were eligible, and specially abled commuters used to get a 40% fare concession. Now, both groups will be eligible to completely free travel.
Announcing the decision, AMC Standing Committee Chairman Devang Dani said the move is aimed at promoting inclusive and accessible public transport. Passes can be collected from Jhansi Ki Rani and Soni Ni Chali BRTS stations or applied for online via a QR-code-enabled form.
Dani also revealed plans for a new road testing laboratory at a cost of ₹2.44 crore. Responding to complaints about non-functional streetlights, he assured that AMC has instructed officials to repair them promptly and carry out regular night inspections. DeshGujarat
