Ahmedabad to get in-house lab for road, bridge material testing
July 04, 2025
Ahmedabad: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will set up an advanced material testing laboratory at its Piplaj plant at a cost of ₹2.74 crore to ensure the quality of materials used in city projects, including roads and bridges.
The new facility will conduct around 65 different tests on various construction materials, including bitumen and asphalt. As a result, AMC will no longer need to rely on private laboratories for test reports. The decision was approved by the Standing Committee.
Standing Committee Chairman Devang Dani said the lab will be equipped with an electronic platform to measure material weight, including full truckloads, ensuring greater accuracy and transparency in quality checks. DeshGujarat
