Passenger arriving from Bangkok held at Ahmedabad Airport with 2kg weed

Ahmedabad: A passenger arriving from Bangkok was arrested at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport on Wednesday for attempting to smuggle over 2 kg of hydroponic cannabis.
Following a tip-off, the Air Intelligence Unit of Customs and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials at the city airport intercepted the man who had travelled on a Thai Airways flight. During a search of his trolley bag, officers found two airtight packets containing a greenish, lumpy substance, carefully concealed.
Upon testing, the substance was confirmed to be marijuana (cannabis), weighing 2.094 kg. The estimated value of the seized drugs is around ₹2 crore in the international market. The individual was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. DeshGujarat
