Logistics master plans nearly ready for entire Gujarat and for 8 major cities: Industries Minister

Gandhinagar: A comprehensive logistics master plan for the entire state and separate city logistics master plans for eight major cities of Gujarat are in the final stages of preparation, Industries Minister Balvantsinh Rajput announced today after a detailed review meeting of the Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board (GIDB).

The minister said that once these plans are finalised, they will help identify and improve the logistics needs of industries and also assist in preparing a shelf of projects for the future.

At the meeting held in Gandhinagar, the Industries Minister reviewed in detail various activities undertaken by GIDB, including logistics and infrastructure planning. He noted that key infrastructure projects being implemented by central government agencies—which are valued at over ₹500 crore—are reviewed under the Project Monitoring Group mechanism of the Government of India. As the state nodal office, GIDB plays an active role in resolving related issues swiftly, he added.

During the meeting, Minister Rajput directed senior GIDB officials to expedite the completion of the city logistics master plans for Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, and Junagadh. He also stressed the need to develop a Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP) database. Additionally, he urged the officials to continue efforts to improve Gujarat’s ranking in the Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS) survey.

Highlighting the vision of “Viksit Bharat@2047” by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the minister said that Gujarat is actively contributing to this national goal. The state government through GIDB is implementing measures to reduce logistics costs for industries, develop robust infrastructure facilities, and closely monitor key infrastructure projects as part of the ‘Viksit Gujarat’ vision, he added.

GIDB CEO P. Swaroop briefed the minister on several initiatives, including the PM Gati Shakti Gujarat plan, measures to reduce logistics costs, project monitoring activities for infrastructure projects, and the current development status of Special Investment Regions (SIRs). DeshGujarat
