ACB traps Gujarat Pollution Control Board engineer for taking ₹1.25 lakh bribe
July 30, 2025
Porbandar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today nabbed Rajeshbhai Vitthalbhai Chauhan (55), a Deputy Environmental Engineer (Class-2) serving at the Gujarat Pollution Control Board office opposite Madhavani College in Porbandar, for accepting a bribe of ₹1,25,000.
The complainant approached the ACB after Chauhan allegedly demanded ₹25,000 per month as protection money to overlook any faults at the complainant’s dairy plant located at Sudama Dairy. Chauhan had threatened that if the payment wasn’t made, he would report faults and have the plant shut down. Over five months, this demand added up to a total bribe of ₹1,25,000.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant filed a formal complaint with the ACB. Acting on this, the ACB set up a trap. During the operation today, the complainant met Chauhan, who accepted the bribe at the Gujarat Pollution Control Board office in Porbandar. The ACB team immediately caught Chauhan red-handed and recovered the entire bribe amount of ₹1,25,000 from him. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway. DeshGujarat
