Ahmedabad Gets Another Urban Forest

Ahmedabad: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel today inaugurated an Urban Forest Park developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model by the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) in the Lambha Ward of the South Zone. On the occasion, the Chief Minister also unveiled a statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.

The Urban Forest has been developed at a cost of ₹55 lakh over an area of 4,464 square meters. Using the Miyawaki method, approximately 8,000 indigenous trees — including teak, khair, bamboo, siris, shisham, and arjun — have been planted. Additionally, a 250-meter-long walkway has been constructed.

Present at the inauguration were Ahmedabad Mayor Pratibhaben Jain, Municipal Commissioner Banchhanidhi Pani, city-area MLAs, corporators, and senior AMC officials.

It is noteworthy that the AMC has set a goal of making Ahmedabad the cleanest city in India. To complement this, the Corporation has launched the Mission for Million Trees – 2025, aiming to transform Clean City Ahmedabad into a Green City by planting 40 lakh trees.

As part of the mission, a target of planting 40 lakh trees across the city has been set. As of August 7, 2025, a total of 27,11,443 trees have already been planted — achieving 66.77% of the goal. Efforts are underway to complete the remaining plantation soon, the civic body said.

According to the official statement, as of August 7, the AMC has developed 198 Oxygen Parks/Urban Forests across the city using the Miyawaki technique and dense plantation methods.
