More Arrests in Vadodara Ganesha Idol Egg Attack Case; Three Held from Rajasthan

Vadodara: Eggs were thrown at a Ganesha idol during a Ganesh Sthapan procession late on August 25. The incident occurred around 2:30 am near Madar Market on the route from Panigate Darwaja to Mandvi, close to the City Police Station. The police acted swiftly, controlling the situation and launching an investigation that has now led to the arrest of nine accused, including a minor.

Gang Involvement Found

During the initial probe, two accused, identified as Sufiyan and Shahzad, were arrested. Their interrogation revealed that the act was linked to a mafia gang. Subsequently, four others were named, including the alleged gang admin, Junaid Sindhi. Among them, Salman Mansoori was arrested in Vadodara, while Junaid Sindhi, Sameer, and Anas were traced to Ajmer, Rajasthan.

Accused Nabbed in Rajasthan

Following leads, Vadodara Police coordinated with Rajasthan Police. Under ‘Operation Search,’ Ajmer Police arrested Junaid Sindhi, Sameer, and Anas from the Ajmer Railway Station area. The accused are now being brought to Vadodara for further legal action.

Incident on August 25

The idol of Ganesha, taken out by Nirmal Park Yuvak Mandal, was passing through Madar Market when unknown persons pelted eggs at it. The Mandal members immediately informed the police, who rushed to the spot and restored order.

Police Statement

Vadodara City Police Station PI Rajendra Chauhan confirmed the arrests – “We had earlier arrested six accused, including a minor. Two are already in jail, while others are in custody under remand. Based on inputs, the remaining three accused were located in Jaipur and arrested with the help of Rajasthan Police. Our team is returning with them for further action,” he said.

Police are continuing their investigation into the suspected group’s activities.
