Gujarat Govt to Table Jan Vishwas Bill, Fine to Replace Imprisonment for Minor Offenses
September 02, 2025
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government will introduce the Jan Vishwas Bill in the upcoming Assembly session, aimed at improving ease of doing business in the state. Industries Minister Balwantsinh Rajput will table the legislation.
The bill seeks to reform the penal provisions for minor offences by replacing imprisonment with monetary penalties. Officials said the move will reduce the burden on courts, jails, and police, while also boosting investor confidence by removing the fear of imprisonment for minor violations.
Penalty provisions under the bill will apply across 11 state laws and cover nearly 500 categories of offences. DeshGujarat
