Mahudi: Travel to the famous Jain pilgrimage site Mahudi has become smoother and faster with the inauguration of the new four-lane Pilvai–Mahudi road by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Sunday.

The 4.5-kilometre cement concrete road, developed at a cost of ₹20 crore, connects Pilvai to Mahudi and links the Ahmedabad–Gandhinagar highway to Vijapur. The upgraded stretch is expected to ease traffic congestion and provide better facilities for pilgrims, especially during the upcoming Diwali and Kali Chaudas festivals.

Devotees visiting Mahudi will now benefit from reduced travel time and smoother traffic flow, while local commuters are expected to save both time and fuel.

The Roads and Buildings Department constructed the road using high-quality cement concrete to enhance durability and prevent rainwater damage. The project was completed within ten months and opened before the festive season to handle increased traffic.

The inauguration is part of the Statewide Development Week, being observed from October 7 to 15, to mark 24 years of service and good governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and the beginning of the 25th year.

Several developmental projects are being inaugurated across Gujarat as part of the celebrations. Mehsana MLA J.S. Patel, local leaders, officials, and residents attended the event.
