Pune: The Sir Creek region, which separates India and Pakistan in Kutch, is set to host India’s next major tri-service military exercise, Exercise Trishul. Involving the Army, Navy, and Air Force, the drill is designed to test and demonstrate India’s growing capability for integrated, multi-domain operations along one of the western coast’s most strategically sensitive frontiers, a news report stated.

The exercise represents a significant step in enhancing the armed forces’ joint operational readiness, technological innovation, and indigenous defence capabilities, particularly in Sir Creek and adjoining coastal areas. These zones have become key operational priorities for the Southern Command following Operation Sindoor.

“The terrain demands agility, seamless inter-service communication, and technological adaptability—objectives that Exercise Trishul aims to achieve,” said the report quoting an armed forces officer.

During the amphibious phase, naval and army units will conduct coordinated landings along the Saurashtra coast, supported by air force surveillance and operations. This will help refine command protocols, interoperability, and rapid logistical response in coastal and creek areas, where tidal variations and unpredictable terrain pose significant challenges.
