Monkey attacks leave 12 injured in Ahmedabad’s Gomtipur area
October 29, 2025
Ahmedabad: After stray cattle and stray dog menace, a new threat from monkeys has left residents of Gomtipur reeling over the past week. Local councillors said at least 12 people have been bitten in just five days across several chawls and colonies in the area.
Councillor Iqbal Shaikh said a group of 8–10 monkeys has been creating panic in the Noorbhai Dhobi ni Chali, Royal State, and Amrapali Cinema areas.
“The number of bite cases has increased recently,” he said. “A 55-year-old man was bitten on his leg and hip, while a 25-year-old woman, Ameena, suffered bites on her leg, stomach, and hand. Even senior citizens have not been spared — a 70-year-old man was injured on both legs after a monkey attack.” DeshGujarat
