IMD forecasts above-normal rainfall for Gujarat in November

Ahmedabad: If you’re thinking of taking out your woollens and putting away the raincoats and umbrellas, wait — you might need them again. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its monthly bulletin, has predicted that Gujarat could receive above-normal rainfall in November, breaking from its usual dry pattern for the month.

Probabilistic Forecast for the Rainfall

According to the forecast, most parts of India are likely to witness normal to above-normal rainfall in November 2025, except for some regions in northwest and southern peninsular India, where below-normal rainfall is expected. Historically, Gujarat receives very little rain in November, but this year could be an exception.

Probabilistic Forecast of Temperatures

The IMD also projected normal to below-normal maximum temperatures across most parts of Gujarat, indicating that colder days lie ahead.

Depression over eastcentral Arabian Sea

Meanwhile, the ongoing wet spell is likely to continue for the next 2–3 days, as a depression over the east-central Arabian Sea was centered about 300 km southwest of Veraval on Friday. The system is expected to move north-northwest towards the Gujarat coast and gradually weaken within the next few hours, suggesting clearer skies by next week.

Due to this weather system, the IMD has forecast that parts of Bharuch, Surat, Amreli, and Bhavnagar could experience heavy rain on Saturday, while other regions may see light to moderate showers. On Sunday, light thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely in some parts of the state. DeshGujarat
