Gujarat HC grants interim relief to DySP in caste certificate case
November 01, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court has granted interim relief to DySP Chetankumar Mundhava, who was facing dismissal after his caste certificate was cancelled.
The government alleged that he had obtained the certificate using fabricated documents claiming Scheduled Tribe status. A vigilance inquiry conducted in 2018 found irregularities, and subsequent verification in 2022 led to the cancellation of his caste certificate. Mundhava contested the decision, citing poor record maintenance and submitted ancestral revenue documents to support his case.
Acting on his plea to stay the government’s order, the High Court stated, “In the circumstances, issue notice to the other side. In the meantime, ad-interim relief, as sought in Paragraph 8(b) of the petition, is granted till the next date of hearing.” The matter will next be heard on November 7. DeshGujarat
