Election Commission Kicks Off Special Intensive Revision of Voter List in Gujarat
November 05, 2025
Gandhinagar: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list kicked off across Gujarat on Tuesday, with 50,963 booth-level officers (BLOs) beginning a door-to-door campaign to distribute enumeration forms.
According to Additional Chief Electoral Officer Ashok Patel, the month-long exercise, which will continue until December 4, aims to cover nearly 5.08 crore voters across the state. BLOs will provide voters with pre-filled enumeration forms and assist the voter in completing the details.
The official added that once the forms are collected, BLOs will upload the information through a dedicated mobile application. The draft electoral rolls will be published on December 9, followed by a claims and objections period till January 8. These will then be verified by the District Election Officers and the Chief Electoral Officer by January 31, 2026, and the final electoral rolls will be published on February 7.
Notably, if a voter is not available during the first visit, the BLO will make up to three attempts during the month to contact them. BLOs will also be responsible for collecting the completed forms from voters.
The SIR process in Gujarat is part of a larger nationwide exercise being carried out in 12 states and Union Territories. For Gujarat, the revision comes ahead of the upcoming local body elections and two years before the Assembly polls due in 2027. DeshGujarat
