₹16 crore crematorium comes up in Shilaj of Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has constructed a new crematorium in the Shilaj area of Thaltej Ward, under the North-West Zone, to cater to the growing population of the area.
The project, designed by Parekh Associates, was executed at an estimated and tendered cost of ₹16.17 crore. Thaltej Ward spans approximately 37 sq. km, covering localities including Gurukul Road, Sindhubhavan Road, Thaltej, Shilaj, Bhadaj, Hebatpur, Bopal, and Puma, making it one of the largest wards in the zone.
Currently, the existing crematorium near Thaltej Four Roads was serving the area, but with the expansion of Thaltej and surrounding neighborhoods, a new facility in Shilaj was developed to meet increasing demand.

The crematorium is spread over a plot area of 12,000 sq. m and has been designed to provide modern and efficient services. Key facilities include:
