Western Railway flags off first-ever refrigerated container train from Sanand

Ahmedabad: The Western Railway’s Ahmedabad division on Monday launched its first-ever refrigerated train, a specialised reefer container rake, from Sanand.
The inaugural service, flagged off by divisional railway manager Ved Prakash, departed for Pipavav Port with cargo from HyFUN Industries, McCain Foods, and the Balaji Group. The train transported 1,061.81 tonnes of temperature-controlled goods and generated revenue of ₹6.57 lakh.
Ajit Shah, president of the Sanand Industries Association, noted that the region currently hosts 17 pharmaceutical units, with more than 35 in the pipeline. He said the new refrigerated train service will significantly boost industrial growth. DeshGujarat
