Ahmedabad: In the latest case of negligence regarding hygiene at a popular city restaurant, Café Mocha, located on Gulbai Tekra Road, has been fined after a customer found several insects inside a chapati basket.
The incident occurred on November 18, when a customer visiting the restaurant with his family was served rotis in a bamboo basket. Upon handling or shaking the basket, the customer witnessed over a dozen insects crawling out and onto the table.
The aggrieved customer immediately raised the issue with the restaurant management and specifically requested permission to inspect the kitchen. However, the manager reportedly responded in an arrogant and rude manner, refusing to allow the customer to view the kitchen.
Following the restaurant’s failure to address the concern, the customer filed a formal complaint with the Health Department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). Corporation officials later visited Café Mocha for inspection. During the check, authorities found cleanliness irregularities and imposed a penalty of ₹25,000 on the café.
This incident once again highlights a recurring concern that customers are not receiving the level of food quality expected for the amount they spend. DeshGujarat
