Gujarat SIR Exercise: Over 5 Crore Enumeration Forms Distributed, 81% Digitized

Gandhinagar: In a major milestone under the state-wide special intensive campaign for electoral roll revision, the distribution of enumeration forms to more than 5 crore registered voters for the 2025 electoral roll has been completed across Gujarat. The digitization of returned forms is progressing rapidly, with over 81% already digitized.

The drive aims to ensure accuracy and transparency in the electoral roll. Officials from the CEO’s office, along with district-level election teams, are working in coordination to expedite the process, which will continue until early December.

Dang leads Gujarat in digitization

Among all districts, Dang has emerged at the top with 89.61% digitization of counting (enumeration) forms. Several other districts have also recorded significant progress.

Key findings during the enumeration

As per the Election Commission of India (ECI), several important demographic and electoral insights were recorded during the SIR exercise across the state:

  • 13.1 lakh deceased voters were identified in the rolls.

  • 2.44 lakh voters were found absent from their registered addresses.

  • Over 16 lakh voters were recorded as permanently migrated.

  • Nearly 2 lakh repeat (duplicate) voters were identified.
