December 17, 2025
Nadiad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat has registered a bribery case against three personnel posted at Kapadvanj Rural Police Station in Kheda district for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹90,000.
The accused include Ranjitsinh Shivaji Zala, then an unarmed police constable (Buckle No. 953, Class-03), Rajeshbhai Bhikhabhai Bariya, then an armed police constable (Buckle No. 281, Class-03), and Rajendrakumar Parbatsinh Gadhvi, a GRD (unclassified) personnel, all posted at Kapadvanj Rural Police Station at the time of the incident. The alleged demand and acceptance of the bribe took place on April 17, 2021, while the FIR was registered today.
According to the ACB, the complainant was transporting wheat bags in his truck from Modasa to Mumbai when he was stopped at the Raliya police check post in Kheda district on April 17, 2021. As the complainant was unable to produce documents related to the truck and the consignment, the accused allegedly seized the vehicle and threatened legal action. To avoid the case, they initially demanded ₹5 lakh, which was later negotiated down to ₹1 lakh. Eventually, ₹80,000 was allegedly taken through an angadiya firm and ₹10,000 via PhonePe, totalling ₹90,000.
The complainant had reportedly recorded the conversations and the transaction on his mobile phone. During the ACB’s preliminary investigation, documentary, technical and scientific evidence, including the recorded audio submitted on a CD, confirmed the demand and acceptance of the bribe. The ACB stated that the three accused acted in collusion, misused their official positions and committed criminal misconduct as public servants, and have been booked. DeshGujarat
