Surendranagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today trapped a head clerk of the District Home Guards Office in Surendranagar while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹3,000 from an outsourced Home Guard employee.
According to the ACB, the complainant works as a Home Guard and also serves as a driver of a government vehicle on an outsourced basis. He had recently performed double-shift duty as a driver during the Ambaji fair while accompanying the Home Guard Commander and had received the approved honorarium for the assignment.
The accused, Vijaybhai Somabhai Parmar, Head Clerk (Class-III), allegedly informed the complainant that the honorarium had been cleared and demanded ₹3,000 from the amount of ₹3,178 received for the seventh day’s duty. Unwilling to pay the illegal gratification, the complainant approached the ACB and lodged a complaint.
Acting on the complaint, the ACB arranged a trap. During the operation, the accused allegedly engaged in a conversation with the complainant, accepted the bribe amount of ₹3,000, and was caught red-handed at the District Home Guards Office, Surendranagar. The entire amount was recovered from his possession. Further legal proceedings are underway. DeshGujarat
