Ambawadi housing society moves for self-redevelopment
January 02, 2026
Ahmedabad: Residents of Shastri Park Residential Society in Ambawadi near Nehrunagar Circle have initiated self-redevelopment of their housing complex, choosing to bypass the Gujarat Housing Board (GHB) amid concerns over delays, disputes and alleged irregularities in GHB-led redevelopment projects.
In a public notice issued through legal counsel, the society said it will seek a title clearance certificate and invite proposals from reputed developers to redevelop the ageing complex, which was originally built by the GHB and is now over 50 years old.
Of the 24 members and beneficiaries, 19 residents (75%) have given written consent. The members claimed absolute ownership of the property through registered conveyance deeds, asserting that the GHB no longer has any legal authority over the land or structures.
The society has cautioned the GHB against any administrative interference, warning that it would violate the conveyance deeds and the principle of promissory estoppel. It has also invited objections or claims, if any, to be submitted with documentary proof to its advocate within seven days, after which the redevelopment process will move ahead. DeshGujarat
