India’s first port-based 5 MW green hydrogen plant to come up at Kandla Port

Ahmedabad: Under the Government of India’s Sagarmala Initiative, Oswal Greenzo Energies, a joint venture between Oswal Energies Limited and Greenzo Energy India Limited has signed a contract with Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla, to set up a 5 MW green hydrogen plant at the port.
The company has been awarded the contract for design, supply, installation, testing and operation of the facility. This landmark project marks India’s first green hydrogen plant at a major port, positioning Deendayal Port as a pioneer in maritime decarbonisation.
The project will be executed on an EPC basis and includes provision for future expansion up to 10 MW using common infrastructure. Once operational, the plant is expected to produce around 800 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, supporting clean energy adoption in port operations and the mobility sector.
The project aligns with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and is expected to play a significant role in reducing carbon emissions from maritime shipping and transportation.
Speaking at the contract signing ceremony, Mr. Ratan Bokadia, the Managing Director of Oswal Energies Limited, expressed, “The company takes pride in its participation in India’s first port-led green hydrogen project, which demonstrates our technical abilities, engineering capabilities, and project implementation skills for advanced hydrogen systems. The project will be executed by Oswal Energies Limited according to international standards while helping India transition to renewable energy sources.”
Mr. Bokadia further stated that the Deendayal Port project represents an important achievement for Indian engineering companies working in the green hydrogen industry while emphasizing that Oswal Energies will provide exceptional EPC services to advance India’s environmental sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives.
The contract signing event took place at Gandhidham on January 28th, 2026, where Mr. Ratan Bokadia, the Managing Director of Oswal Energies Limited, Mr. Kushal Agarwal, the Executive Director of Greenzo Energy India Limited, and Mr. Sushil Kumar Singh, the Chairman of Deendayal Port Authority, signed the contract.
