Late-Night Raid Exposes Cow Slaughter in Kadi; Three Held from Ahmedabad

Mehsana: A shocking case of cow slaughter has come to light in Kadi taluka, triggering widespread outrage in the area. During a late-night raid by Gau Rakshaks on February 11 along Aldesan Road, the mutilated carcasses of two cows were found. Weapons used in the slaughter and an abandoned rickshaw were also recovered from the spot.

Later, after being informed about the incident, the police solved the sensitive case within hours and arrested three suspects from Ahmedabad based on clues linked to the seized rickshaw. All three accused, namely Akbarkhan Inayatkhan Pathan, Nasirkhan Gulabkhan Pathan, and Imrankhan Mohammadkhan Sahebkhan Pathan were apprehended within 6–8 hours of the crime, and legal proceedings have been initiated.

The police probe has revealed that the accused are habitual offenders. Akbarkhan Pathan has previous cases registered at Dholka and Danilimda police stations for cruelty toward animals. Nasirkhan Pathan also has prior cases registered at Mehsana A-Division, Kathlal, and Shahpur police stations.

Police have taken all three accused into custody and are probing whether others are involved in the alleged racket.

Gau Rakshaks stated they had been receiving complaints of illegal cow slaughter near Aldesan Road for several days and had been conducting night surveillance. Acting on specific information, they raided an open ground near Noorbanu Farm late Wednesday night, where they claimed several cows had been slaughtered.

According to the vigilantes, around 15–20 cows were found mutilated over the past week, and the accused fled the spot upon seeing them, leaving behind the rickshaw and weapons.

Following the incident, members of local organisations gathered at the site, and senior police officials rushed to the scene. A veterinary doctor was called to complete legal formalities, and further investigation was launched.

The incident has led to strong anger among local residents and cow protection groups, who have demanded strict punishment for the accused and firm action to prevent such incidents in the future. DeshGujarat
