Bharuch Link Road to Be Upgraded Into Six-Lane Corridor; Encroachments Cleared
February 13, 2026
Bharuch: The district administration has initiated the process to convert the city’s key link road into Bharuch’s first six-lane road. As part of the project, an encroachment removal drive was carried out on Thursday along the stretch between Shaktinath Circle and Shravan Chowkdi.
Officials from the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department cleared structures built on government land on both sides of the road. During the drive, compound walls constructed on public land near the Swaminarayan Temple and Modheshwari Mata Temple were also demolished using JCB machines.
Authorities stated that approximately 15 metres of land on each side from the road’s centre line will be cleared to widen the corridor. The encroachment removal action has been conducted in phases earlier as well, with Thursday’s operation being the third round.
Alongside road widening, an approximately 800-metre-long RCC drainage line will be laid on both sides of the road at an estimated cost of ₹3.59 crore. The tender for the project has already been approved and work is expected to begin soon.
Officials said the drainage system will help resolve the recurring problem of waterlogging on the road and in nearby residential societies during the monsoon season by allowing rainwater to flow out efficiently.
After completion of land clearance and drainage construction, the R&B Department will proceed with the proposal to upgrade the road into a six-lane carriageway. DeshGujarat
