March 06, 2026
Alirajpur: A mob allegedly pelted stones at a Gujarat Police vehicle that had reached Alirajpur in Madhya Pradesh to investigate a liquor smuggling case. However, no injuries were reported in the incident that occurred on Thursday.
According to Alirajpur SP Raghuvansh Kumar Singh, a team of four Gujarat police personnel had arrived in the Kattiwada area as part of the probe into the smuggling case.
The officer said that residents of the tribal-dominated region were upset over the death of a youth in Gujarat and believed the case had not been properly investigated by the police there. Suspecting that the visiting police team had come to arrest them in connection with that incident, villagers reacted angrily, leading to the stone-pelting episode.
Officials also stated that one of the two accused in the stone-pelting case has been arrested, while a search for the other is underway. DeshGujarat
