Northern Railway Announces Special Train from Delhi to Sabarmati for T20 World Cup Final Rush
March 07, 2026
Ahmedabad/New Delhi: With a massive rush of cricket fans travelling to Ahmedabad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final, the Indian Railways has announced a special train from New Delhi to Sabarmati to ease travel pressure caused by soaring airfares and unavailability of confirmed tickets.
According to Northern Railway, the special train (No. 04062) will depart from New Delhi at 11:45 pm on March 7, 2026, and will reach Sabarmati at 2:30 pm on March 8, a few hours before the high-voltage final match. The train will halt at Delhi Cantt, Gurugram and Jaipur en route.
Railway officials said the special service has been introduced after a sharp surge in demand for travel to Ahmedabad ahead of the final, with flight fares rising steeply and regular trains running full.
The special train will have 19 coaches, including 3rd AC and 2nd AC coaches, allowing passengers to book reserved seats for a more comfortable journey. The move is expected to benefit hundreds of cricket fans travelling to watch the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Railway authorities have advised passengers to book tickets at the earliest as heavy demand is being witnessed due to the T20 World Cup final.
