Maruti Suzuki Plans to Raise Rail Dispatch Share to 35% by FY31

Ahmedabad: Maruti Suzuki India Ltd on Wednesday announced plans to increase the share of rail-based vehicle dispatches to 35 per cent by FY31, up from the current 26 per cent, as part of its push towards greener and more efficient logistics.

The company said its Manesar in-plant railway siding has achieved a milestone of 1 lakh vehicle dispatches since the start of operations in June 2025. This has resulted in an estimated avoidance of 16,800 metric tonnes of CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent).

In calendar year 2025, Maruti Suzuki dispatched a record 5.85 lakh vehicles via rail. Over the past decade, the share of rail in its outbound logistics has risen sharply from 5 per cent in 2016 to 26 per cent in 2025.

Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said, “In CY 2025, the Company set a record by dispatching over 5.85 lakh vehicles through railways. Interestingly, in the past decade, our share of rail mode in outbound logistics has grown exponentially, from 5% in 2016 to 26% in 2025. Going forward, we aim to scale up rail-based vehicle dispatches from the current 26% to 35% by FY 2030-31#, in line with our commitment to build efficient and sustainable logistics and contribute to India’s net-zero ambition.”

The Manesar facility is the country’s largest automobile in-plant railway siding and the company’s second PM Gati Shakti-linked terminal after its Gujarat facility, the company added. DeshGujarat
