AMC Records Highest-Ever Tax Collection at ₹2,373 Crore in FY 2025–26
March 31, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today said that it has earned its highest-ever revenue from tax collection, reaching a total of ₹2,373.17 crore for the fiscal year 2025–26. This record-breaking figure represents an increase of ₹119.03 crore compared to the previous year’s collection of ₹2,254.15 crore, the civic body said.
Breakdown of Revenue Streams
The record collection was driven by strong performance across multiple tax categories. The final figures for the year are as follows:
- Property Tax: ₹1,833.24 crore
- Profession Tax: ₹274.79 crore
- Vehicle Tax: ₹238.87 crore
- TSF Charges: ₹26.27 crore
On the final day of the fiscal year, March 31, 2026, the AMC collected ₹40.07 crore by 7:00 PM, with officials anticipating an additional ₹5 crore to be collected by midnight.
Zonal Performance
The West Zone led the city in property tax contributions with ₹411.08 crore, followed closely by the North West Zone at ₹399.87 crore. Other contributors included the South West Zone (₹259.42 crore), Central Zone (₹247.51 crore), and East Zone (₹206.48 crore).
Incentive Schemes and Recovery Campaigns
The civic body said that the collection is attributed to both taxpayer cooperation and aggressive recovery strategies. An incentive/rebate scheme implemented between January 1, 2026, and March 31, 2026, offered interest waivers ranging from 50% to 100% for taxpayers who cleared their full dues. This initiative alone benefited 301,980 taxpayers and generated a net income of ₹463.98 crore after accounting for ₹48.39 crore in interest waivers.
Simultaneously, the AMC conducted a rigorous recovery campaign throughout the year, which included:
- Issuing seals or notices to 249,965 properties
- Registering liens (Bojo) on 807 properties
- Conducting auctions for 218 properties
The AMC administration has expressed gratitude to citizens for their cooperation, noting that this “unprecedented achievement” will significantly bolster the city’s financial resources for future development. DeshGujarat
