IPS Association Sounds Alarm Over Rising ‘Baseless Allegations’ Against Officers in Gujarat
April 11, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat chapter of the IPS Association has expressed concern over what it described as a rise in “frivolous and baseless allegations” against IPS officers across media and social media platforms.
During a meeting attended by officers from Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad, along with others who joined via videoconferencing, members flagged instances where claims made by “interested individuals” were allegedly affecting the functioning and reputation of officers.
The association noted that such allegations are often circulated without proper verification, potentially impacting ongoing investigations as well as public perception. It resolved to take “remedial steps” in such instances, including issuing clarifications and placing verified information in the public domain.
Elections to key posts of the association were also held during the meeting. Ahmedabad Police Commissioner G.S. Malik was elected president. The post had fallen vacant after DGP Manoj Agrawal, who was elected president in July 2025, retired on September 30, 2025. Meanwhile, ACB Director Piyush Patel was elected vice-president. ADGP Nipuna Torawane will continue as secretary, while IG (Intelligence) N.N. Chaudhari will serve as treasurer. Several officers were also inducted into the executive committee.
The association also decided to establish an official presence on X (formerly Twitter) to streamline communication and share verified information. Officials said these steps are aimed at ensuring timely responses and countering unverified allegations against IPS officers.
Apart from organisational matters, members also discussed preparing a representation for the upcoming pay revision exercise. A subcommittee will be constituted to draft a detailed note on issues related to the 8th Pay Commission. DeshGujarat
