Modi at new year lunch for media persons

During a new year lunch with media persons in Gandhinagar, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in informal talk said that his government doesn’t intend to invite Gujarat assembly election earlier than schedule.

Gujarat assembly election is scheduled to take place in December, 2012. However in last few weeks, former Gujarat Chief Minister and Congress leader Shankersinh Vaghela has more than once expressed possibility that Modi would invite assembly poll at least six months earlier than schedule.

When media persons asked Modi directly during new year lunch that whether he intends early election, Modi replied that BJP government has no hurry to hold election earlier before schedule. Modi added that government’s programmes(like Garib Kalyan Mela, Sadbhavana fasts etc) are routine programmes. He also said that actually it is the Congress party that is preparing for earlier Lok Sabha polls. Modi clarified clearly that so far as Gujarat assembly election is concerned, it will take place as per schedule.
