MoU for Japanese Industrial Zone in Ahmedbad district signed, JETRO delegation meets Modi

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed today in the presence of Chief Minister Narendra Modi between the public ventures of Gujarat government — Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC); Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board (GIDB); INDEXT-B – and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) to set up special Japanese industrial zone near Ahmedabad.

A high-level delegation of JETRO today called on Chief Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in Gandhinagar. Giving details of the MOU, President of JETRO Mr. Hideihiro Yokoo said that GIDC will develop a special Japanese industrial zone near Ahmedabad. Designing, infrastructural facilities and the subsequent vision of the industrial zone will be developed by GIDB, whereas INDEXT-B will handle the work of facilitating the Japanese investors and delegations of various Japanese companies in Gujarat.

Besides, various investment promotion seminars will also be arranged in Japan. JETRO will also play a central role in acquainting Japanese companies about the opportunities of investing in Gujarat considering the approaching Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit-2013.

Welcoming the signing of this MOU as a landmark move Chief Minister said that partnership between Japan and Gujarat is growing in a big way with the development of Delhi-Mumabi Industrial Corridor and the Dholera SIR. Japan has also planned an ‘eco-friendly city’ in Sanand and Changodar. JETRO’s ties with Gujarat will prove beneficial to both the parties.

Minister of State for Industries Saurabh Patel, Principal Secretary for Industries Maheshwar Sahu, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister K.Kailasnathan, Secretary Mr. A. K. Sharma, MD of INDEXT-B Mukesh Kumar and Industries Commissioner B B Swain were also present on the occasion.
