Ahmedabad, 24 December, 2011
As Gujarat assembly general election is scheduled in 2012, former Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel and former minister of state for Home Gordhan Zadaphia are riding high on Leuva Patel card again.
Zadafia was one of the persons present prominently in a press conference that announced that Samasta Leuva Patidar Samaj, Ahmedabad will hold a convention of community members on Sunday at 4.00 pm in Nikol area of the city. The convention will be held in the run up to the 21st January 2012 event of groundbreaking of Khodaldham mandir in Kagvad, district Rajkot.
President of Khodaldham, Kagvad Shri Nareshbhai Patel and former Gujarat Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel will address Nikol event on Sunday 25 December at 4.00 pm. As many as 1 lakh Leuva Patels are expected to participate in this event according to Shri Saurashtra Patel Samaj Charitable Trust.
Tag line of Khodaldham event is ‘Shakti of unity through bhakti:Be United for each other.’
Political pundits will keep watch over this development, and over the content of the speeches.
Zadafia and Keshubahi had played Patel card in past too in year 2007 Gujarat assembly election, however they couldn’t damage even smallest number of votes of Patidar community. Now again there’s an election year, and again it seems something is brewing.
Insiders claim that though the event is publicly presented as purely religious and community oriented, the fact is that the unity of Patidars is its main slogan and Zadafia and Keshubhai are two public face of this event.
