Osamu Suzuki’s touching words at Hamamatsu

It was the third day of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s Japan visit and apart from his bullet train ride, and visit to Suzuki Motors facility, the main event was JETRO seminar, which was jam packed and attended by hundreds of Japanese investors.
Today, in his speech, Osamu Suzuki, Chairman of Suzuki Motors said, “thirty years back we were offered only farmland. Today Gujarat offers excellent infrastructure, peace and location advantage”.
He said that sudden(unplanned) urbanization has choked Gurgaon plant, a logistics nightmare.
He said he requested JETRO to add Hamamatsu in Modi’s Japan schedule and he was glade that Modi came to Japan.
Osamu Suzuki remembered that Mahatma Gandhi was born in Gujarat, a place where he learned non-violence.
Narendra Modi in his Hindi speech echoed Osamu Suzuki on Gandhi’s legacy and gave assurance that Indians by nature are not violent.
Modi gave example of Bombardier and Tata Motors to drive point how speedy Gujarat functions.
He said Gujarat is surplus in power now, but the state is planning for 2030 considering all the industries it invites.
Mr. Suzuki during his talk with Narendra Modi said that Suzuki Corporation will bring five hundred youths from Gujarat to Japan and will train them for technical skills. They will later work in Gujarat’s Bechraji plant. He appealed other auto companies also to invest in Gujarat.
