Air Marshal Daljit Singh is new SWAC Chief

Air Marshal Daljit Singh AVSM VM took over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, South Western Air Command (SWAC), Gandhinagar on 01 March 2013. On arrival Air Marshal inspected the ceremonial Guard of Honour and addressed all Air warriors DSC, NCs(E) and Civilian employees.
Air Marshal Daljit Singh was commissioned in the fighter stream of the Indian Air Force in Jun 76. An alumni of the National Defence Academy, he has flown over 3500 hours on various aircraft which include Gnats, Ajeets, MiG-21s, Su-30 MKI and Mirage-2000. He is a qualified flying instructor, and a graduate of Defence Services Staff College, Wellington.
Air Marshal Daljit Singh has held a variety of operational and staff appointments. His operational assignments include command of a frontline fighter squadron, Chief Operations Officer of an operational base and command of a premier fighter base. The staff appointments include tenures at Air Headquarters and ARTRAC in addition to diplomatic assignment abroad. He was Director General Air (Operations) at Air HQ prior to assuming to post AOC-in-C.
Air Marshal Daljit Singh has undergone Electronic Warfare (EW) course abroad. The Air Officer had also taken up study on EW exploitation and presented a number of papers at International and National seminars on Electronic Warfare.
The Air Marshal contributed significantly towards enhancement of Air Defence capabilities, operationalisation of Force Multiplier and Net Centric Warfare capabilities of the IAF. He is a recipient of Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Vayu Sena Medal.
Air Marshal Daljit Singh is married to Mrs Harjeet Kaur and they have one daughter and son. He is an avid squash player and his interests include adventure activities.
