Five among top ten tax Payers in Gujarat this year are Gujarat Government run PSUs

Among the top ten companies that paid highest tax in financial year 2012-13 in Gujarat, five are state government run public sector units(PSUs). Among them four PSUs have paid more tax this year compared to previous financial year 2011-12.
Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation(GMDC) is second top tax payer company in Gujarat with payment of Rs 288.50 crore tax for 2012-13, which is 34.50% higher than previous year.
Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation(GSPC) which has emerged as the third top Income Tax payer this year in the state has paid Rs 348.03 crore tax which shows 14.11% increase compared to last year.
The sixth top Income Tax payer in the state this year is Gujarat State Petronet Limited(GSPL) with payment of Rs 199 crore tax, 61.53% lower compared to previous financial year.
On the ninth rank is Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Company Limited (GNFC) with payment of Rs 129.40 crore tax, 17.64% up compare to last year.
It should be mentioned here that last year, the central government had released a list of 10 most profit-making State Level Public Enterprises (SLPEs) in India. Gujarat govt owned Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation was on third rank, while Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation was on seventh position in that list.
