FIR filed against controvercial suspended cop Sanjiv Bhatt

Ahmedabad, 19 July 2013

A complaint has been filed against Suspended IPS Sanjiv Bhatt for slapping a government servant on duty.

There are three jawans including two gun men deployed for Sanjiv Bhatt’s security in three shifts. Yesterday during 12 noon to 8 pm shift, armed police constable Jignesh Patel was on duty at Sanjiv Bhatt’s bungalow with other jawan.

A 6.00 pm Sanjiv Bhatt drove his Innova car outside the bungalow and asked gunmen Jignesh and Vijay to sit in the car with dogs Chimbo and Cookie. Gunmen told Sanjiv Bhatt that handling Bhatt’s dog was not part of their duty. They read out the letter describing what their duty was. As they denied to handle the dogs, Sanjiv Bhatt’s son handled the task and sat in the car with two dogs Chimbo and Cookie. Sanjiv Bhatt asked Vijay to stay at bungalow and asked Jignesh to sit in car.

Bhatt drove to St. Xavier school ground and parked his car. He started running on the ground with his dogs Chimbo and Cookie. Sanjiv Bhatt asked gunman Jignesh to run with him. Jignesh replied that he couldn’t run with a gun in hand. Later in the night when Sanjiv Bhatt and others returned back to bungalow, Sanjiv Bhatt asked Jignesh to tie Chimbo and Cookie at the tent where jawans on duty live. Jignesh refused to do this. Bhatt asked him that in that case he should be ready to run on the ground with gun in hand. Jignesh replied that he would not run. Angry Bhatt slapped Jignesh and went inside the home.

Following this, Jignesh informed police control room about the incident. Police Sub Inspector Patel sent reliever from the headquarters. Jignesh gave his weapon to reliever and went to Ghatlodia police station to file complaint against Bhatt. Jignesh was provided primary treatment.
