-A plant of 10 MT capacity set up in MP already operational

A newly-launched technology facilitating extraction of fuel from plastic waste can help India pursue its quest for energy security in a big way as output of such waste in India is estimated to be 43 lakh ton per annum. The technology was demonstrated today at the Ahmedabad Management Association.

The technology, invented by scientist Shri Nilachal Bhattacharya, one of the promoters of Green Earth Innovations company, has an edge over other technologies used for the purpose in the US, Japan and Malaysia, since it is more cost-effective than the latter ones.

The Indore-based entity, offering commissioning of the fuel extraction plant using the technology called “Plastic Waste to Oil” on turnkey basis, has put on display this technology at the exhibition “B-3 &B-4”, to be held at Gujarat University Exhibition Hall, Ahmedabad from 30th August 2013 to 1st September 2013 and inviting Gujarati entrepreneurs, Corporates, Municipal Corporations and Nagarpalika interested in application of the innovation.

Giving details about the technology, Shri Manoj Sharma, other promoter of the company incorporated in 2012, said, “The fuel extracted from plastic waste using this technology can be used for running Bharat – Phase II heavy vehicles and also for industrial purposes like running of D.G.Sets, heavy pumps. The process is environment friendly and does not create any form of pollution. The plant for extraction can be set up with capacity ranging from 1 MT to 30 MT per day and 1,000 liter of Oil can be extracted from 1 MT plastic waste on daily basis. This means a 30-MT plant can extract 30,000 liter of fuel per day.”

“The capital cost required for a 30 MT capacity plant is Rs. 1.5 crore, but for a small plant having low capacity of 1 MT, the cost is about Rs. 25 lakh. The conversion cost of the plant works out to be Rs. 7 per one kg of the plastic waste and land requirement for a 1 MT plant is about 5,000 square feet. A plant of 10 MT capacity applying this technology has been already set up by in the state of Madhya Pradesh,” he added.

The technology can extract fuel from all types of plastic waste by liquefying the waste through use of a tubular reactor in absence of oxygen. The technique, recently launched by Green Earth Innovations, a Company promoted by Shri Manoj Sharma and scientist Shri Nilachal Bhattacharya, is not only a world-class technology and cost-effective, but it also produces clean fuel, as the sulfur level in the fuel obtained from plastic waste is only 0.05 % making it cleaner than other fuels. This also implies that use of this fuel will produce less smoke.

It is worthwhile to mention that now-a-days, approximately 80 % waste has been received by garbage houses throughout the world, where only 7% plastic waste, received from industries, is being recycled. Plastic waste received from households and shops never gets recycled. As a result it is littered all around or finds it way to landfills.
