Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh will inaugurate the revamped version of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial in Ahmedabad. The memorial has been set up in Motishahi palace built by Mughal ruler Shah Jahan. Prime Minister had approved Rs. 17 crore grant for revamp work of Sardar memorial.
According to the details shared by union minister and Gujarat MP Dinsha Patel who is also heading Sardar Smarak Trust, on 29 October 2013, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will arrive at Ahmedabad airport at 5.20 pm. He will reach Sardar Patel memorial in Shahibag area on airport road at 5.30 pm.
Here he will open two statues. While one statue features ‘three barristers’ Sardar Patel, Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru sitting together, the other statue features Sardar Patel in standing position with two maps of India on two side as mural in background.
The Prime Minister will then open the memorial and after a brief visit come to an assembly located next to the memorial. Here he will address around four to five thousand people.
