A meeting of national executive of Keshubhai Patel-led Gujarat Parivartan Party(GPP) was held today morning in Gandhinagar(it’s going on at present).

As we told you in December last year, party president Keshubhai Patel today announced to step down from his post and declared his resignation.Gordhan Zadafia has replaced Keshubhai as GPP party president. Zadafia’s appointment was not completely event-free. Read out what happened before he could become party president.

Those 11 minutes

-Keshubhai declares he’s stepping down from the post of president due to health reasons.
-Keshubhai clarifies that he will continue to guide the party.
-Keshubhai throws the question before party men present in the hall that who should become a new president?
-Various people shout Gordhan Zadafias name.
-Keshubhai said one person has right to suggest another name.
-One person suggested Lalitbhai Suhagiya’s name.
-Keshubhai ignored it and said there’s no oppose to one name.
-Lalitbhai said he wants to speak.
-Keshubhai denied permission to him and said there’s no need to talk, lets first elect him(Zadafia). You talk later. For now this is enough.
-A person who had suggested Lalitbhai’s name stood up again and said he has a name to suggest, and it is Lalitbhai Suhagiya. This man also said that many party men are not present here and there should be an election for the post of president as per constitution of party.
-Keshubhai said: OK here’s another name, and that’s Lalitbhai’s.
-One person in passing spoke Sureshbhai’s name, but it was ignored.
-Some partymen said, they haven’t seen Lalitbhai, who knows Lalitbhai?
-One zadafia supporter stood up and said he is from Nadiad. There are only three partymen in Nadiad, but when they come to Ahmedabad, they can meet Zadafia at party office. Therefore he should be elected.
-Keshubhai said, there’s no need to give a lecture.
-Keshubhai said there are two names Gordhanbhai and Lalitbhai.
-Some persons were commenting. Keshubhai said there’s no point of talking now. Two names are received.
-Suresh Mehta spoke to Keshubhai and suggested that Lalitbhai should speak.
-Keshubhai asked Lalitbhai to speak for two minutes as his name was suggested.
-Lalitbhai came on mic and said, “I have just been named as candidate, I have not filed my candidature. We can elect even Gordhanbhai as president, but I have three-four issues to discuss.”
-Keshubhai stopped Lalitbhai and told him that he had not allowed to give a speech.
-Lalitbhai argued, “No, bapa I have to ask.”
-Lalitbhai continued and said those against GPP have labeled it as ‘Gujarat Patel Party’.
-Some women party workers stood up and opposed Lalitbhai’s remark.
-Lalitbhai said he had no issue with Gordhanbhai as president, but he should be allowed to speak.
-When women continued to oppose Lalitbhai, he said is this a party forum, or individuals are gathered?
-Keshubhai asked Lalitbhai to not to discuss what’s good and bad.
-When Lalitbhai was adament to speak. More party men stood up. Keshubhai advised Lalitbhai again and asked him to just say what he wanted to do.
-Party man Vikrambhai came on mic and reminded that media was present in the hall.
-Vikrambhai asked Lalitbhai to sit, and took mic in his hand.
-Lalitbhai discontinued his speech and sat down.
-Keshubhai took mic in his hand and asked Lalitbhai whether he’s a candidate?
-Lalitbhai said, he already had said he’s not a candidate.
-Keshubhai said there’s only one name left now. And that’s Gordhan Zadafia.
-Gordhanbhai stood up, took blessings, he was garlanded.

(Who is Lalitbhai Suhagiya? He is Praveen Togadia supporter. He was given ticket to contest from Junagadh in last year’s assembly elections. He couldn’t win the election.)
