Metro scam: court rejects ex-IAS officer’s temporary bail plea

Ahmedabad

The special court for Anti- Corruption Burau (ACB) cases here today turned down bail application of former IAS officer Sanjay Gupta who has been arrested in Rs 113-crore metro rail scam.

Special ACB court judge N G Dave rejected his plea for three month’s bail.

Gupta had sought bail on the ground of health, saying he was suffering from diabetes, hyper-tension and he recently also contracted jaundice.

The court sought opinion from the civil hospital which said its staff could treat Gupta. Hence the plea was rejected.

State CID arrested Gupta, former chairman of Ahemdabad-Gandhinagar Metro (MEGA) project, on May 14, alleging that financial irregularities to the tune of Rs 113 crore took place during his tenure in 2012.

Last month, the court had rejected his regular bail application.
