Jamnagar
After long court battles and protests by NGOs, finally the Ranmal lake(Lakhota lake) beautification project of Jamnagar Municipal Corporation(JMC) is on track. The works are likely to completed within next few months.
Meanwhile ahead of its opening, the JMC has fixed fine for those who violate the rules in periphery area of lake.
For those who cause damage the amount of fine has been fixed at Rs 500, for those who throw garbage will have to pay fine of Rs 100, for those caught spitting of smoking Rs 50 fine will be applicable while those using plastic which is lesser than 40 micron will be fined Rs 50.
Sign boards in this regard are installed at lake front. People who enter the lake front area are checked for what they are carrying inside.
Such arrangement seems necessary in light of what happened at Gopi Talav yesterday in Surat, a day after its inauguration.
A day after inauguration of revamped Gopi Talav in Surat, over 4,000 people rushed to the place in order to visit the park, children play area and stepwell. Rush was so heavy that all printed tickets were sold. Surat Municipal Corporation(SMC) officials had to force people to leave the place till 11.00 pm and had to call police to control them.
There were 40 security guards deployed but rush was so heavy that they were not able to control those who were damaging lights, rubber flooring in children park area and rides. It was found that the adults entered inside the children park and caused damages. Some elders were seen having bath in fountain.
