Revoke article 370 to resolve Kashmir issue: Anupam Kher in Surat

Surat
Noted actor Anupam Kher, who is in limelight again for getting Padma Bhusan, today said that to resolve the complicated problem of Kashmir article 370 of the constitution which prevents people from other parts of the country to get settled there should be revoked.
Talking to media persons here Kher, a Kashmiri Pandit himself, said that the day article 370 (giving special status to J&K) is removed, the Kashmir problem would be solved. People from other parts of the country should settle there.
‘Article 370 has done no good even to the Kashmiris living there. If it is revoked they will also be benefited,’ he claimed.
In an emotional tone he described the plight of Kashmiri pandits who were ousted from their own homes and made refugees in their own country. ‘For the past 26 years nothing has been done for them. Letters after letters and delegation after delegation could fetch nothing,’ he said.
To a query the veteran actor said that he was quite hopeful from the Modi government with regard to the resolution of the Kashmir issue. ‘They (the government) still have 2-3 years. I have hope that something will turn up,’ Kher said.
Earlier last month in Jammu he had said that the day people from Bengal, Punjab, Gujarat and other parts of the country will get permission to settle down in Kashmir, the problem would be solved, but that does not suit anyone.
